Short-term consultancy opportunity: Vet Sustain impact evaluation

Vet Sustain is inviting applications from researchers and research organisations to deliver an impact evaluation by February 2025.

Vet Sustain

Research opportunity to deliver an impact evaluation by February 2025. Suited to a researcher or research organisation with experience in the veterinary/animal-based sectors, with expertise in impact monitoring and evaluation, and who can offer value and a robust approach within a maximum budget of £6,000 +VAT.

About us

Vet Sustain is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company (CIC) aiming to inspire and enable veterinary professionals to drive sustainability through their work. We consist of a team of Directors, volunteers, and working group members, promoting our Veterinary Sustainability Goals in line with the UN’s SDGs, through a number of initiatives and projects. These include building tools and training (such as our online training courses and veterinary practice carbon calculator), communications and advocacy amongst our global network, and working alongside partners and commercial supporters. Please visit our website for more information.

The opportunity

Vet Sustain is seeking an independent researcher or research group to conduct a concise, evidence-based impact evaluation of our work since our incorporation as a CIC in March 2021. The consultant will utilise existing data gathered by Vet Sustain as part of our work (e.g., process indicator data such as sales and partnerships developed - see our impact update, and data gathered as part of previous research), and will gather new data to evidence our impact on the UK veterinary professions in terms of our Veterinary Sustainability Goals, our Objectives, and existing workstreams (see our Strategy for more information). The methodology will be designed by the contractor according to their proposal and expertise, and the project deliverables will consist of an interim verbal update pre-Christmas 2024, followed by a concise written report and short presentation to our Board of Directors and team in February 2025. A maximum budget of £6,000 (+VAT as relevant) has been allocated for this consultancy, to be paid in 2 instalments, and the selected proposal will provide the best value and a robust approach to be delivered within this budget and timeframe.

The consultant(s)

The successful applicant(s) will have a track record in working with the animal-based sectors on monitoring and evaluation-type research projects. Vet Sustain recognises the positive value of diversity, challenges discrimination, and promotes equality. We welcome and encourage applications from people of all backgrounds.

If you are interested, please send an expression of interest email containing an overview of your proposed methodology, budget, and biographies of the consultant(s) to [email protected]

Deadline 5pm Monday 14th October. Online meetings will be scheduled with shortlisted researchers/organisations soon after.
