Expansion of the Vet Sustain Team To Deliver Sustainability Resources for the Veterinary Professions

Vet Sustain

Vet Sustain is excited to announce their recruitment of Dr Hannah Davies as their Technical Content Lead. Following their recent appointment of Operations Manager Dr Ellie Duffy, this announcement marks an expansion of the not-for-profit social enterprise in pursuit of their mission to enable and inspire veterinary professionals to improve the health and wellbeing of humans, animals and the environment.

In Vet Sustain’s recent survey of UK veterinary practice representatives, respondents expressed a need for more tools and guidance to support their sustainability policies and practices. In response to these findings, Hannah is tasked with developing sustainability resources to help veterinary professionals to leverage their unique niche and skills at the human-animal-environment interface.

Dr Davies, a veterinary surgeon with a Masters in International Animal Health, will bring her wealth of experience in large animal clinical practice, international development, and academia to this exciting new role.

Hannah said: “I am incredibly passionate about the principles of sustainability, and no matter how big or small, we all have an important role in driving change for a sustainable future. I’m excited about supporting the unique role that veterinary professionals play in tackling complex sustainability problems, with our ability to understand the interactions between people, animals and the environment.”

Vet Sustain are delighted to welcome Hannah on board. “With so many pressing societal and planetary challenges to address, it’s never been more important for us all to identify where we can all make a meaningful difference. Veterinary professionals care deeply and are concerned about sustainability issues, but they tell us they don’t have the guidance and tools to understand what they can do for best effect”, said Vet Sustain’s Chair, Gudrun Ravetz.

“Bringing Hannah on board not only marks another important milestone for us as we expand our team this year, but it also paves the way for gathering vital evidence and actionable advice that veterinary professionals need to help build a sustainable future. We’re thrilled to bring Hannah into the team, with her expertise, dedication and experience in bringing people together for sustainability”.
