Vet Sustain Appoints New Operations Manager to Drive Sustainability in the Veterinary Sector

Vet Sustain

Vet Sustain is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Ellie Duffy to their team as their first employee and Operations Manager. Signalling a new stage in the organisation’s development, Ellie has been tasked with leading Vet Sustain’s expanding project portfolio, building their network and driving impact within the UK and wider veterinary professions for a more sustainable future.

Vet Sustain is a not-for-profit social enterprise championing sustainability in the veterinary professions. The group consists of a team of Directors, volunteers and working group members, working to promote their six Veterinary Sustainability Goals. Their offer includes a range of tools and training, such as a sustainable farming online course for veterinary professionals and their new veterinary practice carbon calculator, and partnership opportunities with aligned organisations.

Ellie is ideally placed to drive their organisation forwards, with her background in small animal veterinary practice, an MA in Environment, Development and Policy, One Health advocacy work and commercial experience with a virtual veterinary service provider.

Vet Sustain’s Chair, Gudrun Ravetz is pleased to welcome Ellie to their team: “Ellie brings a wealth of expertise and passion for sustainability and a deep understanding of the crucial role that veterinary professionals play in One Health. We’re delighted to bring Ellie on board as our first member of staff as we transition from a voluntary initiative to a financially sustainable social enterprise.”

Ellie Duffy said: “I am passionate about the role of veterinary communities in the sustainability agenda. Sustainability is not a single thing or destination, but a constant journey of discovery, and we can help each other along that journey through collaborations across our diverse local and global veterinary communities.

“I am so excited to work with Vet Sustain to support veterinary professionals navigate global sustainability challenges, and I am looking forward to enabling and empowering more veterinary professionals for a sustainable future.”

Vet Sustain is expected to make further announcements as they continue to grow their team later this year.
