About us

Vet Sustain is a unique Community Interest Company (CIC) with a mission to enable and inspire veterinary professionals to champion sustainability in their work, and create positive change for animals, people, and the planet. Aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, we provide innovative resources, training, partnerships, and advocacy initiatives to support our community to meaningfully address environmental, social, and ethical challenges.

The opportunity

We’re seeking a visionary CEO with the ambition, strategic insight, and drive to lead Vet Sustain into a new era of financial security and growth. This is an exciting role for a dynamic leader from the not-for-profit or small business sector, with a proven track record in fundraising, business development, and revenue generation. Working closely with our Board, volunteers, and a talented team, you’ll be responsible and accountable for delivering our 2025+ Strategy and strengthening our role as a leader in veterinary sustainability.

In return, you’ll enjoy flexibility, autonomy, and the opportunity to shape the future of a purpose-driven organisation with a unique niche in sustainability.

Key responsibilities

  • Strategic leadership: Work with the Board to drive Vet Sustain’s vision, values, and strategy. Oversee and streamline operations, ensuring that resources, partnerships, and initiatives align with our mission.

  • Business development and fundraising: Build revenue streams that secure Vet Sustain’s long-term sustainability. Identify, secure, and manage funding and commercial partnerships to extend our reach and impact.

  • Stakeholder engagement: Act as a primary ambassador for Vet Sustain, building relationships with key partners, institutions, companies, and supporters, both in the UK and internationally.

  • Communications and advocacy: Lead the narrative around our mission. Oversee communications strategies, engage our community, and ensure our messaging strengthens our reputation.

  • Operational oversight and team leadership: Inspire, lead, and grow our small talented team and a network of dedicated volunteers, creating a collaborative, purpose-driven culture.

Who We’re Looking For

  • A visionary leader with experience in not-for-profit or small business management, ideally within sustainability or the veterinary sector.

  • A proven ability to generate income and secure strategic partnerships that drive financial growth.

  • Outstanding communication skills to engage and inspire diverse stakeholders.

  • A natural manager with a collaborative, hands-on approach to building and supporting high-performing teams.
